James Shaw ACE Academy

Jim Shaw Aviation Career & Education Academy is a community-rooted nonprofit organization dedicated to exposing middle and high school students to careers in aviation, aerospace, and STEM. Founded over a decade ago by a local community leader and passed down through generations, the Academy was built on the belief that access creates opportunity. Our mission is to expand pathways to economic mobility by providing underrepresented and under-resourced students with hands-on learning, mentorship, and real-world exposure to high-demand careers that shape the future.

Youth Programs (Middle & High School)

ACE Academy Summer Camp
An immersive, multi-day summer experience where students explore aviation through discovery flights, flight simulation, STEM workshops, industry site visits, and mentorship from pilots and aviation professionals.

STEM Club (Monthly)
A year-round program offering monthly, hands-on STEM workshops focused on aviation, engineering, robotics, drones, and emerging technologies—designed to sustain engagement and build technical confidence.

Events & Volunteer Opportunities

Skybound Flight Festival
A free, community-wide aviation and STEM festival featuring aircraft displays, flight schools, simulators, hands-on activities, and industry partners—connecting families directly to aviation pathways.

Charity Golf Tournament
An annual fundraising event bringing together community leaders, corporations, and supporters to raise scholarships and unrestricted funds for youth programming.

Volunteer & Industry Engagement
Professionals, pilots, educators, and community members support our work as mentors, instructors, speakers, and event volunteers—helping students see what’s possible and how to get there.
