Volunteer: GCCN: Volunteer DentistGuilford Dental Access Program (GDAP) offers essential dental services—including examinations, extractions, fillings, and pain management—at a flat rate of $40. Currently, the dental team includes a 0.8FTE dental assistant (32 hours per week), a 0.6FTE bilingual registered hygienist (24 hours per week), and a contract/volunteer dentist (24 hours per week). The clinic sees patients Monday-Wednesday while Thursday is an administrative day. GDAP rents two operatories within Chandler Dental Clinic. During the day, the hygienist sees up to 8 patients in one day. Our dentist and dental assistant typically see around 6 patients. Key Activities Patient checks-in for dental appointment at the front desk and pays the $40 cash copay (or $0 if the patient is unsheltered).The patient then completes the GDAP patient intake form which captures medical history and current medications.New GDAP patients undergo an initial evaluation and are prescribed a treatment plan by the dentist and/or dental hygienist.An initial visit typically takes one hour.If oral surgery is required, GDAP refers out to a partner organization to provide required services (e.g. impacted wisdom teeth).The length and frequency of subsequent visits are based on the treatment plan.All GDAP patients receive oral health education at each visit by the dentist/dental hygienist.Organization: Guilford Community Care Network Guilford Dental Access Program (GDAP) offers essential dental services—including examinations, extractions, fillings, and pain management—at a flat rate of $40.
