Volunteer: Assembling and Distribute Food Boxes for Families - KernersvilleLocation: 130 East Mountain Street, Kernersville NC 27284 - Volunteer Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 11:30am - 12:15pm Primary Responsibilities: The Food Pantry Assistants will assist the Food Pantry Manager with day-to-day operations of the Food Pantry by: Assembling boxes for packing of food for the for clients in the community. Assist with stocking the shelves and freezers with food. Ability to discern between expired and fresh foods. Assist with keeping the food pantry clean and free of trash, boxes, and expired foods. Vacuuming the Food Pantry. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM. Volunteers must be able to lift heavy boxes and be on their feet for long periods are a huge help. Wear appropriate clothing (no short shorts, belly shirts or inappropriate language on clothing), and must wear closed toed shoes (no sandals). Assisting at the mobile pantries or drive-thru pantries is a no-contact distribution. We are looking for churches, organizations, and individuals who may want to collaborate with us to assist with the needs at the Center of Hope Shelter. We have a monthly need list; 2023 MONTHLY NEEDS LIST FOR CENTER OF HOPE - THERE IS A HIGH NEED FOR THE FOLLOWING ITEMS -- TWIN COMFORTERS, PILLOWS AND BLANKETS January - Laundry Soap DetergentFebruary – Sweet Treats: Gift Bags – Valentines Bags March - Ladies Underwear – 6, 7 (no briefs) & sports bras April – Health Snacks & Fruits May – Welcome Home Baskets (supplies to set up a new home) June – Outdoor fun games for families, i.e., chalk, bubbles, basketball/soccer balls July – Cleaning Supplies August – School Supplies September – Shower Shoes in any size for Men & Women and Children (Flip Flops) October – Socks: Children, Women & Men November – Blankets, Twin Sheets, Twin Comforters December – Shower Sets, Bath & Body Sets (Men & Women) Welcome Home Baskets A basket is given to residents when they move into permanent housing. Broom, Dustpan, Mop & Bucket Cleaning supplies – Lysol, Tilex, sponges, Pads, dishwashing liquid, Windex, etc. Paper towels, Dish drain – used to dry dishes. Pots and pans, Glasses, Oven mitt, Dishtowels, Dishcloths Cooking Utensils, Dishes, Silverware, Detergent Please place items into a laundry basket or clothes hamper, allowing easy moving and giving families the essential goods for moving into their new homes. When you volunteer to tutor the Boys & Girls Clubs members, you help them prepare for a Great Future as an adult. We are looking for volunteers with a passion for education and compassion for children. Tutors and mentors are needed to help members with homework, reach grade-level reading, improve computer skills and test scores, and be prepared for the next grade and higher education. All volunteers must be over the age of 18. Volunteer Opportunity: Title: Mentoring and Tutoring (All volunteers must be at least 18 yrs. old) When: Monday – Friday 2:30 PM - 7:00 PM School Hours Summer Hours - Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM All volunteers working with or around children must complete an application with a background check, an interview, and Safe from Harm training.
