Description

The Poverty Simulation is a tool used to inform participants of the day to day experiences for the economically poor. It's meant to foster "AHA" awareness moments amongst people don't have lived experiences. Various organizations across Forsyth County host the simulations. Crisis Control Ministry with the help of volunteers facilitate the experience. The host organization recruits participants. These participants are randomly assigned a household. Every 15 minutes equates to 1 week and the participants goal is to meet their bills and make sure their family is feed. Volunteers in the simulations act as the employer, banker, grocery store attendant, homeless shelter, social services, utility company, and many more community  business/resources. 

Crisis Control Ministry is looking for additional volunteers to help facilitate a simulation on February 9th from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. This simulation is co-hosted by Highland Presbyterian Church and Centenary United Methodist Church. Training will be provided. Volunteers are encourage to stay and participate in the 30 minute debrief from 7:30 - 8:00 p.m.
