P4P Advisory Board
Purpose/Function: The purpose of the Resident Advisory Board is to guide The Partnership for Prosperity to act in a way that is representative of the community needs in Forsyth County to promote self-sufficiency, drive economic mobility, and decrease poverty among all residents. Members of the Advisory Board, working with the staff of The Partnership and its board of directors, will refine an action plan for alleviating poverty in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County. The advisory board will provide invaluable strategic advice to staff and directors as they formulate the long- and short-term strategic vision of how to better their communities in Winston Salem. Advisory board members will help the Board to make educated decisions that advance the mission of the Partnership for Prosperity.
Board terms/participation
Advisory Board Members will serve staggered terms of one- and two-years. The board will meet once monthly.
Qualifications
This is good opportunity for an individual who is passionate about helping his or her community thrive. Selected Advisory Board members should have experienced poverty or work closely with those who have and have an interest in poverty reduction, economic mobility, self-sufficiency, asset-based community development and community sustainability. Members should be residents of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County.
Principal Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Provide strategic advice to board members and executive officers that allows them to make knowledgeable decisions.
Strategic Growth:
Help identify any weaknesses in The Partnership for Prosperity’s strategy and work with staff and board members to correct those weaknesses.
Essential Personal Qualities:
A willingness and an ability to commit time to serve as an effective advisory board member.
A strong ability to communicate clearly with others.
Good and objective judgment.
The ability to think creatively and innovatively.
