We are looking for compassionate volunteers to help serve hot meals to individuals experiencing homelessness at the Central Library in Downtown. This initiative provides not only a hot meal but also an opportunity for connection, support, and dignity to those in need in our community.

Time: 12:15 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: Forsyth County Central Library, Downtown 660 W. Fifth St. Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing, packing, and distributing hot meals to homeless individuals at designated areas within the Central Library.
- Engage with guests in a friendly, respectful, and empathetic manner.Help set up the serving area, including arranging tables, chairs, and food stations.
- Ensure that the food is served safely and meets hygiene standards.Assist with clean-up after the meal service, including disposing of waste and packing up equipment.
- Be a supportive presence to those in need, fostering a welcoming and non-judgmental environment.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines, including food handling procedures and sanitation practices.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A passion for helping others and a commitment to community service.
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
- Respectful and non-judgmental attitude towards individuals experiencing homelessness.
- No prior experience required, but an open heart and willingness to learn are important.
- Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Time Commitment:
Shifts Available: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Volunteers are asked to commit to the full shift, but partial shifts may be arranged upon request.
Training and Support:
All volunteers will receive a brief orientation and any necessary training to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the meal service.
Staff members will be available to provide guidance and support during shifts.
