Guilford Dental Access Program (GDAP) offers essential dental services—including examinations, extractions, fillings, and pain management—at a flat rate of $40.
Currently, the dental team includes a 0.8FTE dental assistant (32 hours per week), a 0.6FTE bilingual registered hygienist (24 hours per week), and a contract/volunteer dentist (24 hours per week). The clinic sees patients Monday-Wednesday while Thursday is an administrative day.
GDAP rents two operatories within Chandler Dental Clinic. During the day, the hygienist sees up to 8 patients in one day. Our dentist and dental assistant typically see around 6 patients.
Key Activities
- Patient checks-in for dental appointment at the
front desk and pays the $40 cash copay (or $0 if the patient is unsheltered).
- The patient then completes the GDAP patient
intake form which captures medical history and current medications.
- New GDAP patients undergo an initial evaluation
and are prescribed a treatment plan by the dentist and/or dental hygienist.
- An initial visit typically takes one hour.
- If oral surgery is required, GDAP refers out to a partner organization to provide required services (e.g. impacted wisdom teeth).
- The length and frequency of subsequent visits are based on the treatment plan.
- All GDAP patients receive oral health education at each visit by the dentist/dental hygienist.
