Scope of work:
During the PIT count, we are tasked with counting everyone in our community who is experiencing homelessness. We want to understand the total number of homeless people and some demographic and other information about them. The data we collect is required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, or HUD, and some of it is information that we as a community want to know to help us understand how well we are serving people and plan how best to use our resources. The PIT count is a count of where people are sleeping on the night designated for the count.
Due to COVID-19, this year’s PIT count will be conducted via observation only. Volunteers will be needed to physically visit known encampments and targeted areas of Guilford County. The PIT count will capture where the unsheltered have slept on the night of January 27, 2021. However, we are given three service days to collect data, Jan. 27th – 29th.
