From our Executive Team to our Board of Directors, Big Brothers Big Sisters has a compassionate and dedicated group of individuals on our side who are willing to do whatever it takes to help change children’s lives for the better.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for new Board Members! If you or someone you know is interested in supporting an organization that helps children realize their potential through mentoring, please consider joining us.

Position Title: Member, Board of Directors
Appointed By: Board Executive Committee
Elected By: Board Membership
Term of Office: Two years, 3 renewable, Max 6 consecutive

Responsibilities:

● Required to attend a new board member orientation
● Required to attend bi-monthly board meetings (typically the 4th Monday of the month at Noon)
● Encouraged to attend all regularly scheduled committee meetings.
● Contribute financially to the agency through personal donations, fundraising events, in-kind service, and/or donations. Board members are encouraged to give or get at least $1,000 each year of service.
● Serve on at least one Board committee (Program, Public Relations, and Philanthropy).
● Have an understanding of the purpose and overall scope of the programs and a conviction of their importance; have a basic understanding of the agency’s clientele and is able to see the agency objectively in relation to changing community needs and be receptive to changes necessary to meet such needs.

Qualifications:

● Recognized member of the community with proven leadership skills and outstanding community contacts.
● Able to provide the time necessary to fulfill their obligation to the BOD and the agency.
● Willing to support the agency verbally and financially.
● Willing to be committed and dedicated to the agency and its programs.

Hosting a Littles In Waiting activity is a meaningful and fun way for volunteer groups to get involved!
Our Littles In Waiting mentoring program provides monthly, staff-supervised activities at the BBBS Mentoring Center for children who are waiting to be matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister.

Volunteers can lead activities that are informational and skill-based (like life skills, job readiness, or sharing about your career) or simply fun and engaging (such as cooking, crafting, or sharing your favorite hobby).

This program helps build resilience, encourages goal-setting, teaches life skills, and surrounds youth who are waiting to be matched with a caring, supportive community.
