The Shalom Project
The Shalom Project of Winston-Salem seeks to build a strong and healthy community by meeting the needs of people with compassion, celebrating diversity, and working for justice. None of our services would be possible without the hard work and dedication of our volunteers and generosity of our friends in the community.
Flourish
Flourish is a financial education and holistic wellness program designed to help low-income women heads-of-household (called “Achievers”) and their families achieve financial self-sufficiency. We collaborate with community partners and resources to focus on practical financial wellness, but differ from other programs by attending to the dignity and wellbeing of the whole person. Flourish’s agenda and curriculum are premised on The Shalom Project’s philosophy that all individuals deserve to be valued for their unique gifts and abilities. Recognizing that financial mobility is predicated on many intersecting factors of a person’s health and environment, Flourish employs a holistic curriculum with a special emphasis on mental health care, developed alongside women in poverty, that addresses dimensions of whole person wellness, trauma and resilience, and self-care, in addition to financial empowerment.
