"Lead Us Not Into Gentrification: Development, Displacement, & The Tale of Two Winston-Salem’s"
Winston-Salem is experiencing a renewal that is skipping over the least of these. As we boast of being one of the best U.S. cities for economically mobile people to relocate to, poverty remains nearly intractable for those born into it here.
Does this reality mean that gentrification is on the horizon? If so, can The Church be a force that pushes against its winds of displacement? What role can The Church play in redressing & healing the historic wounds of racial injustice & economic dispossession? How can we advocate for & create renewal efforts that center the most vulnerable sections of our city? Can our city truly be a place of "peace" as long as there are "two Winston-Salems"?
This session is identical to two other sessions titled: Holistic Compassion Ministry: Lead us Not Into Gentrification on Saturday, August 10 and Tuesday, August 20
Love Out Loud wants community members to be involved in service that they are passionate about - but to also be fully aware of the contextual framework that we step into.
These trainings are deeply encouraged, open, and free to all.
Holistic Compassion Ministry Trainins are part of our Pathways Growth sessions, designed as part of our Pathways process to assist community members in taking a step back from serving and walk through a process of personal assessment, contextual growth, and engagement before serving in order to plug them into service opportunities that fulfill the center of who they were created to be. By partnering with Community Organizations we are able to help provide these Growth Sessions to you.
Pathways literally helps people find their passion - find their purpose - find their place.
