United Way Dr. Seuss Day Celebration: Video Record Yourself Reading a Dr. Seuss Book
Celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday and Read Across America Day with United Way! Did you know that reading and storytelling with children promotes brain development and imagination and develops language and emotions? In the virtual environment, local kids will benefit from seeing and hearing YOU read a book to them.
Video record yourself from your phone or laptop reading one of the approved children's books and follow the tips included. Approved books and tips are listed here. Then, upload your video to the Google Form here. Your video will be featured in a YouTube playlist for families to enjoy and played during a virtual event for United Way's Raising a Reader participants. All videos MUST be uploaded by March 1, 2021.
United Way staff will select the three BEST videos to play during a virtual event for United Way Raising a Reader participants! Winners will receive a gift card to Scuppernong Books (304 S. Elm St., Greensboro) or Biscuitville!
Please note: Books are available for purchase at Scuppernong Books. All videos will be uploaded to an Unlisted YouTube Playlist. These recordings fall within Penguin Random House's Read Aloud Open License Permissions.
