Did you know? Environmental racism is the disproportionate impact of environmental hazards on people of color. It can include locating industrial plants, landfills, other undesirable businesses in predominantly minority neighborhoods. United Way of Greater Greensboro’s efforts to end poverty includes recognizing the impact of environmental racism in our community. Just like environmental racism, poverty impacts people of color at a disproportionate rate.
This United Way worldwide Day of Action, join us as we take action to promote environmental justice. We will meet at Gillespie Park Elementary (see parking details below) and clean up litter along Martin Luther King Jr. Drive together. Please wear comfortable walking shoes, a mask (if unvaccinated), and gloves. Garbage bags will be provided.
PARKING: Please park in the bus lot (second school entrance if you’re coming from downtown) at Gillespie Park Elementary-- 1900 Martin Luther King Blvd., Greensboro.
